As a Forestry Coordinator, the majority of your work will be in the field with a focus on the supervision of our field staff completing regen surveys, forest inventory measurements (TSP’s & PSP’s), survival/establishment surveys, data collection, and various silviculture programs. This work is often production focussed where you will be rewarded well for moving and maintaining quality.

Reporting to the Forestry and Construction Operations Manager, this position requires a self-motivated, safety conscious individual who takes great pride in their work. Location:

  • This position is a full-time role beginning immediately based out of our Cochrane office.
  • Field focused working in Alberta

Accountabilities:

  • This position will require both office and fieldwork, and some travel is to be expected.
  • Supervision of field staff.
  • Ensure that all Safety policies and procedures are strictly adhered to.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager and or Operations team(s) to ensure that the project scope of work is accurate before work commences.
  • Be the main point of communication between the field and office teams.
  • Manage the work schedule and time for field staff with support of the Operations Manager or Project Manager.
  • Completing regen surveys, forest inventory measurements (TSP’s & PSP’s).
  • Completing survival/establishment surveys.
  • Data collection and various silviculture programs.
  • Planting supervision and contractor field management.
  • Supporting Project Manager(s) with GIS tasks and mapping.
  • Ensure scope of work gets completed accurately and according to budget.
  • Provide leadership to onsite staff, subcontractors and other parties.
  • All other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications:

  • Environmental education with ability to register with the AAFMP
  • Willingness to work in various locations throughout Alberta and BC for shifts of up to 3 weeks.
  • 2-5 years experience in the forest industry
  • Ability to work independently in the outdoors
  • Valid Alberta Drivers License
  • Provide a Negative pre-employment Alcohol and Drug test.
  • Provide a drivers abstract.

Other Assets Skills & Training:

  • Standard First Aid & CPR, ATV Safety Training and H2S Alive
  • Knowledge of Esri-based field and office products
  • Experience with timber cruising, silviculture surveying, FireSmart, tree planting program supervision and / or cutblock layout
