We are currently seeking a highly motivated and driven professional to join our growing team of professionals. Working within the Drafting group and in collaboration with the Project Managers, you will assist with drafting services on projects for various clients using primarily CAD applications, and manage a team of dedicated drafting technologists. This role will include mentoring and training of drafting staff, along with developing and leading the drafting services team within CCI’s US operations.

Accountabilities

  • Prioritize work requests based on deliverable needed and schedules provided by project leads.
  • Provide technical assistance to other CAD operators, technologists, engineers and project managers.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the design team for the development of design and drawings and packages.
  • Perform through quality control (QZ/QC) of drawing submission for compliance to drafting standards.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce drafting standards (internal and external)
  • Produce, check and revise drawings for various Engineering, Geotechnical, and other Horizontal Directional Drilling projects and other 2D and 3D projects as assigned.
  • Refer to databases, network and other sources to ensure all relevant information is included.
  • Conduct drafting quality checks of drawings at various stages of completion.
  • Participate in the maintenance and improvement of drafting standards.
  • Assist in the development of company drafting standards and procedures.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in CAD technology.
  • Coordinate project drafting schedules of the CCI drafting team, based on project deliverable deadlines, including coordination of CCI’s international drafting resources where necessary.
  • Source external data sets, such as Lidar surface data, public utility data, and imagery as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Possess a technical degree/diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or other related education.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years CAD experience accompanied with progressing responsibilities.
  • Excellent working knowledge in the use of AutoCAD and Civil 3D. Experience with Plant 3D and other applications (i.e. Google Earth, ArcGIS, AutoCAD Map 3D, Global Mapper, etc.) would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of tools and drafting to complete 2D and 3D model development.
  • Experience in pipeline/utility design preferred.
  • Experience in trenchless design (HDD / Direct Pipe / Conventional Bores) a significant asset.
  • Experience with LiDAR, DEM’s and Satellite Imagery.
  • Knowledge of GIS software is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Coordinate Systems and Projections
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk 3ds Max or other visualization software
  • Experience preparing Plan & Profile drawings
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure individually and with colleagues to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (English written and verbal) skills.
  • A team oriented work approach with the interest to share knowledge, collaborate and possess a growth mindset.
