Brent Goerz, P.Eng., President
Co-Founder and President of the CCI Group of companies, Mr. Goerz has a proven track record as a successful entrepreneur. The group of companies that Mr. Goerz co-oversees include CCI Engineering, a recipient of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for 5 years running, that employs over 150 employees and has 6 offices in Calgary, Edmonton, Cochrane, Prince George, Quebec and Houston. This highly specialized service company has worked on several large high profile projects in Canada including Keystone Pipeline, Energy East Pipeline and the TMX Kinder Morgan Pipeline. CCI Rentals includes a wide variety of Rental equipment that supplies the Oil and Gas pipeline industry as well as the municipal infrastructure industry. CCI Ventures comprises the real estate holdings that includes several commercial buildings in Edmonton, Cochrane and Stony Plain, Alberta.

Mr. Goerz received his degree in Engineering from U of A in 1995. During the rapid growth of the CCI group of companies Mr. Goerz has managed the overall quality of the product and overseen the development of several engineers in the company, as well as the overall strategy of the company and several company transforming implementations. Mr. Goerz’s work commitment to his entrepreneurial pursuit is evident with the continuing education he has received including the Executive Management Leadership program at U of A and his 3 year participation of the Nancy MacKay CEO Group Forum that encompasses entrepreneurs from several different organizations that meet monthly to discuss business strategy, learning and issues.

Dave Dupuis, C.E.T., NCSO, C.O.O.

Mr. Dupuis received his Diploma in Land Survey in 1997 and quickly moved to Alberta to begin his career as an entrepreneur. Laurie McAlonen, CPA, CA
Chief Financial Officer. Laurie manages all accounting functions of the company, including assistance with project costing and reporting, and providing leadership for these teams, as well as for the administration group. Laurie also prepares annual budgets and business plans, provides support for clients, works with lenders and provides due diligence on potential mergers and acquisitions.

Ed Douziech
V.P. Business, G.M. S.P.M,. Mr. Douziech oversees all CCI’s engineering and geotechnical departments as well as senior project manager on large scale trenchless projects, pipeline construction, reclamation/remediation, municipal and integrity work. Mr. Douziech is one of the original trenchless designers in North America with close to 30 years of experience. He entered the early Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) industry as a directional driller providing planning and tooling services for an international wire line company based in Houston, Texas. Supplying the northern market with the first HDD services and ultimately becoming it’s Canadian Divisional Manager, Mr. Douziech continued his career planning and constructing some of the largest trenchless projects throughout the world. Mr. Douziech’s projects have continued to break world records in scope and complexity. Mr. Douziech is considered an expert in trenchless construction, provided expert witness testimony in provincial court, and personally managed thousands of successful completed trenchless designs. Mr. Douziech has developed many of the planning/construction techniques now considered standard practice. Mr. Douziech continues to develop and successfully construct cutting edge trenchless projects and received multiple industry awards in design and project management.

Ken Birkett, RPFT
V.P. of Environmental Services and Planning. With over 31 years of land management experience in Alberta, Ken brings a wide variety of knowledge to CCI regarding regulatory, environmental and construction activities, especially within forested lands. Ken began his career as a Forest Officer with the Alberta Government. He then owned and operated a successful consulting company for 20 years working in the Forest, Oil & Gas, Utility, First Nations and Private land sectors of Alberta. Before joining CCI’s team, he had been working as a Civil Construction Superintendent for SAGD operations with a major operator in the Fort McMurray area.

Ian Jones, P.Geol., P.Geo.
Senior Engineering Geologist.   Ian has practised as an engineering geologist for more than 35 years and has undertaken geotechnical assignments at locations throughout western and northern Canada, and in South America.  With a focus on linear projects, he has completed engineering terrain analysis and route selection/evaluation studies, horizontal directionally drilled (HDD) crossing evaluations, slope stability assessments and watercourse crossing design reports for several thousand pipeline projects since the late 1970’s. Ian has also provided geological/geotechnical input to regulatory applications and appeared as an expert witness before the National Energy Board and Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board.

Steve Musulak, P.Eng.
Senior Geotechnical Engineer.  Steve Musulak has over 35 years of experience in civil and geotechnical engineering in Western Canada. He has completed hundreds of geotechnical investigations for a wide variety of industrial, municipal, and pipeline related projects and has also been extensively involved in the construction materials testing industry. For the past 10 years, Steve has focused his consulting expertise on the oil and gas industry, with an emphasis on pipeline routing and the geotechnical evaluation of trenchless crossings.

Justin Taylor, P.Eng.
Project Engineer.  Justin has been instrumental in developing many of the tools and processes utilized by CCI in pipe stress measurement and analysis, theoretical modelling, HDD pullback pipe support analysis and pullhead design. Justin is experienced in the management of trenchless and conventional pipeline crossing projects of all sizes, and has worked with a wide variety of clients and stakeholders. As one of CCI’s primary project managers, Justin works with personnel from a variety of discipline areas including geotechnical, environmental, forestry, land acquisition and construction.

Craig Lenderbeck
Construction Manager. With over 12 years of experience in the HDD industry, Craig supports the CCI team with construction experience and innovation.  Working with the equipment and tools throughout all phases of HDD has provided Craig with the ability to assess problems and find solutions. As Construction Manager, Craig ensures all projects get the attention to detail that CCI clients require.  Craig’s ability to incorporate construction knowledge into the design process leads to an easy transition from engineering to construction and ultimately another successful project.

Andrew Arsenault, RPF
Environmental Operations Manager. With 19 years of forest management and oil and gas industry experience in Alberta, Andrew ensures projects are completed in a timely and cost effective manner. His experience includes: forestry and drilling operations, road and lease construction, right-of-way planning and clearing, as well as supervision and management of daily operations. Andrew recognizes that operational excellence requires good leadership. Most recently, he has been working as a Logistics Supervisor for a Corehole Drilling Project with a major operator in the Fort McMurray area.

Butch Shenfield, RPFT
Environmental Regulatory Specialist.  After 36 years of working in the provincial government as a regulator and manager for forestry, lands, and wildfire, Butch joined CCI as a specialist in regulatory approvals, government relations and First Nations liaison. Butch operated for 25 years as an Incident Commander on large firefighting campaigns in Alberta, bringing together multiple functions and operations to control wildfires. He also integrated prevention, engineering and education management within many cooperative initiatives.

Keith Ebbs, RPFT
Silviculture Coordinator. Keith brings over 35 years forestry experience, working in the areas of silviculture, timber harvest planning and access design, data collection and interpretation, and forestry and construction supervision. As a 22 year veteran at Weyerhaeuser, Keith was responsible for the management of Weyerhaeuser Pembina Forest Management Areas in Central Alberta.

Malte Weller, RPF, M.Sc.
Senior Planning Forester/GIS Specialist. Malte has extensive experience in environmental planning for CCI including timber management, timber harvest plans, timber salvage plans, reforestation planning and powerline safety planning. His expertise also includes impact assessment, block/road design and layout, vegetation inventory, wildfire threat assessment, fire salvage planning, forest inventory analysis and is the GIS Manager for client projects.
